Annual Awards Nominations
In 2005 DCI developed an awards program to recognize exemplary contributions to our city by individuals and businesses within our Business Improvement Area (BIA).
The award categories include.
o Business/Property Development of the year
We invite you to nominate for one or all categories. Your nominations for the 2023 Annual Awards should include a short write up about your nominee/business.
Criteria & Nomination Forms:
DCI Retailer of the Year Award Criteria
The business should be well established in the community. The property should have a clean, modern façade and signage. The staff should be attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable and display “Customer Service Excellence”. They should actively promote both the business and the downtown. Consideration should be given to - the number of years in business, success and growth over that time, community impact, youth mentoring, volunteering, and support for the downtown revitalization efforts.
Retailer of the Year Nomination
The Criteria for the DCI Business Development of the Year Award will be judged on overall look, maintenance/renovation of property, improvement to community, inspiration to others and any other unique characteristics of the property. This Commercial property will have undergone significant and noticeable improvement to its exterior and/or interior. Consideration is given to growth in business as depicted by increases in employment and services.
Business Development of the Year Nomination
The DCI President’s Award is presented to exemplary business leader(s), an excellent example to others, who has performed in the best interests of the BIA or its goals and sees value in supporting and or investing in their community. This individual(s) may display exceptional community spirit, volunteerism, mentoring. Or to a business that has reached a milestone of being in business and has become an icon in the community.
